There are three ways to update your smartphone software if you are running BlackBerry® 7 OS or earlier.

1. On the web
2. Using BlackBerry® Desktop Software
3. From your smartphone (over-the-air)

ON A PC (BB Recommended)

What you need here in order to download software from this website, you must be using Firefox or Windows® Internet Explorer v5.5 or higher. If you meet the browser requirements, check for a browser message on your screen prompting you to run an add-on.  Once you do so, you should see a “Check for Updates” button here.

Using BlackBerry® Desktop Software


FOR MAC

You will need to download BlackBerry® Desktop Software to update your smartphone software. Once installed, connect your smartphone to your computer and you will automatically be prompted to update.


FOR PC

You can use BlackBerry® Desktop Software to look for and install updates on your smartphone. To get started, simply connect your smartphone to your computer and open BlackBerry Desktop Software, then click Update.


From your smartphone (over-the-air)



You can update your BlackBerry smartphone OTA (over-the-air) without connecting to a computer. To get started, select the Options icon from the Home screen. Choose Device, then Software Updates and follow the instructions.
