How to : Root AOSP / Get Android 4.4 Kitkat running on LG Optimus G

Google's latest Android update 4.4 which was available official for Google's Nexus 5, mean while the developers have already started the burnout that made 4.4 available for most non-nexus 5 devices unofficial and now comes with the LG Optimus G made by Houstonn (a recognized contributor XDA-Developer Forum) shared this for the world.

If you have a LG Optimus G wishing to be on Android 4.4 ? then follow the instructions given below to get started.

Rooting Steps

Before you start note the following : You will require a LG Optimus G running either TWRP or CWM custom recovery.

So lets get started!

Follow the steps clearly before jumping on.


Step 1 - Download the ROM from here.


Step 2 - Download Gapps version from here.


Step 3 - Download SuperSU (if you want to root your device after flashing in the new ROM) from here.


Step 4 - Copy all the files into the SD card of your phone


Step 5 - Boot into your phone’s recovery mode either via adb (“adb reboot recovery”) or manually (restarting your phone while pressing the vol. down + power key).


Step 6 - Flash in the ROM from “apply update from SD card” and do a complete wipe of your device i.e. delvik cache, cache etc.


Step 7 - Flash in the Gapps via the same method as above.


Step 8 - Flash in SuperSU via the same method.


Step 9 - Do a complete wipe of your device’s cache once more just to be safe and simply reboot your device.


Now you are with a fully Rooted AOSP Android 4.4 KitKat running on your LG Optimus G.
