Food Builder Provides You Nutrition Information Based On Your Ingredients

It is quiet easy to check the nutrition information of any type of packaged food by just flipping it around. But checking the nutrition information is a difficult task when you cook your own food or when you are in a restaurant. To avoid this difficulty, Android had developed a neat, ad-free, simple app- Food Builder. This app provides you with the nutrition information of what you are about to eat based on its ingredients. But don't misunderstand it to be a magical app which gives you the nutrition information by simply analyzing the photo of your food. Definitely you have to enter the ingredients yourself manually. This app contains some list of pre-added ingredients which you can select from the relevant category and it speeds things up. Each food you add is considered as a plate and at the end you get the general nutritional information about it.

To begin first launch your app and tap the blank list to add your first plate. You can give a name for your plate. Then you have to add the ingredients. There are two ways to add your ingredients. You can use the search bar at the top to select the ingredients from the listed. You have to enter the quantity of the ingredients used in grams. The second method is to tap the action bar to open a navigation drawer where you can see lists of ingredient categories. Then you have to add the quantity of the ingredients. Repeat this steps until you have added all the ingredients of your food to the plate.

When you finish adding all of your ingredients tap the arrow on the actin bar and view your completed plate. Swipe up to get nutrition information for the whole plate.

The pre-added ingredients is just a list of most common items used in food, so you can add ingredients that the app doesn't have in its list to your personal database. You also need to enter the nutrition information about that item yourself.

The problem of this awesome app lies in its units of measurement. You have to enter the quantity of the ingredients in grams, but most of the recipes will have ingredients in cups, teaspoons and tablespoons. This means that if I need to add one teaspoon of sugar, I have to first weight it! It will be convenient if this app tries to guess or estimates the quantity in grams.
