How To Watch AVI Videos Or Movies On Your iPhone And iPad


We know that it is possible to stream movies from iTunes library on your iPhone and iPad using Home sharing. But the problem with that is it only works with iTunes supported file formats. MP4 and MOV formats are only supported by iTunes. Other video codecs such as AVI are not playable by iTunes.

If you download the official VLC for iOS app, you can easily play AVI videos or movies on your iPhone or iPad. VLC for iOS app is free on the App Store and you can one of several methods to get the AVI videos or movies onto your device. So here is how you can watch AVI videos or movies on your iPhone and iPad.

Step 1: Click here to download VLC for iOS app from iTunes.

Step 2: After opening VLC  for iOS, tap on the pylon icon in the top-left corner.


Step 3: Tap on Wi-Fi Upload and the toggle switch will turn orange.

Step 4:  Type the network shown into the address bar of your web browser on your Mac or PC. For example 192.168.2.19


Step 5: Open the desired AVI file after clicking the plus sign at the top-right corner.

Step 6: The file will be uploaded to your iPhone or iPad over Wi-Fi.

After finishing these steps, the AVI fill will appear in the Media Library in the VLC for iOS. Moreover, as VLC supports most of the common video codec, this steps can be used for other file formats too. You can upload files using other methods also.
