ABI Research Says Samsung Sold More Smartphones Than Apple, BlackBerry And Nokia Combined In Q3 2013

When passing through the ABI research today about the Q3 2013 smartphones and i wasn't much surprised to the pie chart in which android dominating with over 80% of the world wide smartphone market and was ready to close the tab. Everyone knows pretty well that Android outsells everyone and this is not that i want ed to share. Suddenly is just saw that Samsung sold 35 percent of all smartphones sold in Q3 2013. And on detail study we confirmed that as per ABI research, Samsung sells more smartphones than Apple, Nokia and BlackBerry combined. Than the interesting fact is that they sell more than all other Android vendors singly, and likely more than rest of the five combined. And quite frankly, none of the other vendors have the history or the weight of total sales behind them that Apple, Nokia and BlackBerry do. It wasn't too awful long ago that they were the big three — the ones to beat, if you like — when it comes to domination of the mobile market. With their new push for...

Symbian OS will soon be stopped fully in getting new apps or further updates for your Symbian based apps. Nokia's developer team had sent out messages to app makers that the applications for the defunct ecosystem via Ovi (Nokia Store) will stop from 1st of January 2014 in publishing any further updates for Symbian Based OS. The email states: "If you have Symbian and MeeGo content in the Nokia Store, it will continue to be available for download to customers, and you will continue to receive download and revenue reports as well as payouts for downloaded content. However, starting January 1, 2014, you will no longer be able to publish any new content or update existing content for Symbian and MeeGo". Nokia Lumia 2520 Tablet Hands-On: Windows RT Wrapped In Polycarbonate

It really wasn't a big secret that that Nokia was working on for over the last year and half, the company's Windows 8.1 RT tablet, is now official as the Lumia 2520. The device is supposed to launch before the end of the year for $499, and overall it looks and feels incredibly solid, if not a bit predictable: its uni body polycarbonate design and sleek curves scream to the world that it's very much a Lumia device, regardless of its screen size. There are four colors available: red or white with a glossy finish, and black or cyan with a matt finish. We found the glossy versions to be less grip-friendly, but it won't make much difference if you're using a case with it. With a 10.1-inch full HD resolution and 650 nit brightness, the display is simply brilliant and offers great viewing angles. Nokia's selling point on this panel, however, is its five percent reflectance -- in English, this means the 2520 should be clearly visible both indoors and out.There...

Nokia’s S40 Replacement OS May Defend Against Android Feature Phones

As per news just came in a new Linux based mobile platform has been developed by Nokia for future phones. Th platform namely MEltemi, will run on low cost devices aimed largely at developing markets where Nokia has historically been strong. AS per their calculations the new OS may help Nokia remain competitive at the low as Android starts to scale down and become serious contender in the high volume feature phone space. Although Android isn't quite there yet, its proven versatility and appeal to mobile carriers suggest that it will eventually be adapted to run on even cheaper hardware. Nokia's platform strategy has gone through a dramatic upheaval over the past year. Before present CEO Stephen Elop took the reins, Nokia intended to use the Linux-based MeeGo operating system on high-end devices, Symbian on mid-range handsets, and S40 on feature phones. The Qt software development toolkit, which Nokia obtained in its 2008 acquisition of Trolltech, was going to enable...
