Developers informed via email; no new apps will appear on the Nokia Store after 1st January 2014.

Symbian OS will soon be stopped fully in getting new apps or further updates for your Symbian based apps. Nokia's developer team had sent out messages to app makers that the applications for the defunct ecosystem via Ovi (Nokia Store) will stop from 1st of January 2014 in publishing any further updates for Symbian Based OS.

The email states: "If you have Symbian and MeeGo content in the Nokia Store, it will continue to be available for download to customers, and you will continue to receive download and revenue reports as well as payouts for downloaded content. However, starting January 1, 2014, you will no longer be able to publish any new content or update existing content for Symbian and MeeGo".
Time to change the N9 and 808 PureView users in switching loyalties for a smarter OS (and brands too, if the windows platform doesn't make you full fill your needs as like the Symbian does.) Means that you can use 808 as being a point and shoot replacement even after the dead line being over.
